Dimitrios (Michael) Petrocochino

Demetrius Petrocochino had extensive correspondence between 1843-1850 with his father. They handled various commodities – cotton, silk, leather, sponges, oil, sesame – for delivery in various ports – Trieste, Marseille, London, Livorne – with various financial arrangements – insurance, guarantees, advances.

An intellectual whose personal library was composed of classical literature and philosophy. He had 'études brillantes au Collège royal de Marseille' 1840-1841, including 5 academic awards. He entered into the silk business with Vastarchi in an unpremeditated manner. He was a careful observer of the rival commercial houses, noting in an 1844 letter to his father how [Michel] Dromocaïti did business.

He was a witness at the 1853 Marseille wedding of his sister, Ariadne.

He was a signatory witness to the 1861 marriage of Constantine Negroponte and Angelique Zizinia.

Demetrius Petrocochino is listed the 1851 Marseille census, Allees de Meilhan 35.
