  1. 1.  Aristides Pateraki was born about 1820.

    Notes:

    He is the brother-in-law of Alexander Michael and Polyxene Agelasto.

    Travel: with A.M. Agelasto, sailed on the Scotia from New York to Liverpool (New York Times, 19 May 1864); on the Abyssinia NYC to Liverpool (New York Times, 2 May 1875); with his wife on the Germanic NYC to Liverpool, (The New York Times, 20 Jul 1878).

    The New York Times, 2 May 1875 reports as passenger on the Abyssinia sailing for Liverpool, A. Paterachi.

    Their nephew, Michael Agelasto, reports they had five children.

    He possibly had a namesake son (or nephew) born about 1845 in Smyrna and emigrated to Syros, Greece, in 1860. This Aristide lived in the US from 1865-1875 and was naturalized 15 July 1874. He worked in New York and New Orleans in cotton. He married Lucy Otis (born 11 Sep 1860) on 11 Sep 1878 and they lived in Alexandria, Egypt, where he continued in the cotton trade until his death on 24 Aug 1900. They had three children: John (b 31 Dec 1883, Syros, Greece), Flora (b 10 Dec 1884, Alexandria) and Victoria (5 Oct 1895, Alexandria - Aug 1982, Sarasota, Florida).

    Between 1870-1910 Aristides Paterachi was a member of the New York Produce Exchange.

    1874: Paterachi A., business manager, A. M. Agelasto [cotton buyer], rooms Magnolia Block, w4, with A.M. Agelasto and D. Paterachi [perhaps his son].

    The 1888 and 1889 Galveston, Texas city directory lists him as boarding with A.D. Voisin; his business is given as D. Paterachi & Co., the north side Avenue L between 20th and 21st street (according to the 1890-1891 directory).

    A Demesther Paterachi, a Greek national aged 20, was aboard The China from Liverpool to New York Oct 1869, with Alexander Michael and Polyxene, 7 months after bearing her second child and 13 months before delivering her third child.
