    He may be the man referred to in the French press: Colonel Negropontis with 30 officers and 200 men quit the service of the government and arrived in Salonika where Eleftherios Venizelos had set up a rival government, Le XIXe siècle (Paris), 12 Oct 1916, p. 1. He was afterwards named chef d'etat-major, Le Gaulois, 4 Jul 1917, p. 2.
