    On the day of the 1861 British census, there were two unmarried men named Constantine Negroponte in Liverpool: (1) aged 27, cotton merchant, born in Syros, Greece, lived at 150 Crown Street with Mary Anne Smith, a visitor, and a servant. (2) aged 32, merchant, lodged at 163 Upper Parliament Street [digital record difficult to decipher; scanner says middle initial 'P' and born USA]. Most probably, this man is the latter.
