  1. 1.  George (Theodore) Cambani [Campanis] was born about 1908 in Syros, Cyclades Islands, Greece; died after 1932.

    Notes:

George Th. Cambani, 24, b. Ermoupolis, married, boilerman, swore allegiance to the Greek state on 27 Jan 1932 at the town hall, Ermoupolis, Syros.

    Name:
Campanis is the name's correct transliteration as it goes back to the Latin word "campana." Greeks mostly make no difference in their pronunciation between "mp" and "mb" so they often don’t know the correct transliteration. Campanis is a very common name in Greece; the Athens phone book alone contains over 50 entries (George Agelastos).
