    John Negroponte sailed from New York to Liverpool aboard the Scotia (New York Daily Tribune 3 Jul 1863 p 2). [without more detail this could apply to several Johns on our tree]

    1869: J.A. Negroponte worked for Argenti Sechiari according to the Thacker's Directories, Calcutta.
