21 Jul 1855: John A. Negroponte, 21, born Chios, unmarried, merchant, swore allegiance to the Greek government at the town hall, Ermoupolis.

John Negroponte sailed from New York to Liverpool aboard the Scotia (New York Daily Tribune 3 Jul 1863 p 2). [without more detail this could apply to several Johns on our tree]

1869: J.A. Negroponte worked for Argenti Sechiari according to the Thacker's Directories, Calcutta.
