- Of fragile health, he fell and broke a leg. After an apparently successful operation, his injury did not heal correctly. During a subsequent operation, he died from a blood clot.

- A photo of mother and infant, circa 1860 by André-Adolphe-Eugène Disdéri in the collection of the Musee d’Orsay, Paris, is possibly Mrs. Demosthenes Agelasto née Arghyro Sechiari, and her son Michel.
