  	On-line obituary: James Dimitrios Agelastos August 28, 1940 – July 25, 2025 James “Jimmy” Dimitrios Agelastos passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 28, 1940, in Sparta, Greece, Jim immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s. He owned and operated a cafeteria on the Wayne State University campus in Detroit before moving to Arizona in the early 1970s. In Arizona, he served as Director of Operations for Smitty’s restaurants. Jim was married to Maria until her passing on June 23, 1973. Maria was the mother of Anne Hopf and Anthony Agelastos. He later married Kathleen Agelastos, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Jim is survived by his wife Kathleen; his children Anne Hopf (Stan), Anthony Agelastos (Cindi), and Christos Agelastos (Courtney); and was preceded in death by his son, Stavros Agelastos. He is also survived by his older sister, Anna, and was preceded in death by his sister Tesse and brother Milton, all of whom immigrated to the United States. He was a grandfather to Kayla (Agelastos) Stivason (Troy) and Amanda Agelastos, daughters of Anthony and Cindi; Kaitlyn Agelastos and Alexa Agelastos, daughters of the late Stavros Agelastos; and Sophia Agelastos and Madelyn Agelastos, daughters of Christos and Courtney. Kayla and Troy are the parents of Jaidyn and Baylen, Jim’s great-grandchildren. Jim cared deeply for his family and took pride in the life they built together. A private service will be held to honor his life.
