On the day of the 1861 British census, there were two unmarried men named Constantine Negroponte in Liverpool: (1) aged 27, cotton merchant, born in Syros, Greece, lived at 150 Crown Street with Mary Anne Smith, a visitor, and a servant. (2) aged 32, merchant, lodged at 163 Upper Parliament Street [digital record difficult to decipher; scanner says middle initial 'P' and born USA]. Most probably, this man is the latter or neither.
Constant P. Negroponte, Greek merchant, residing at Beech House, Fairfield [Greenbank Dr, Sefton Park] was involved in a paternity suit with Sarah Parry, a waitress, 31 Montague Street concerning her child, born 27 Jan 1862.
Occupation: Negroponte & Co, cotton buyers 11 Cotton Exchange (1882-1884); cotton exporters 51 Main, Norfolk, Va. (1885-1892). E. Fachiri worked out of the same address.

Alexandre Ghika, Prince Régnant de Valachie and Roxane Rizo-Rangabé, according to Eugène Rizo Rangabé's Livre d'or de la noblesse phanariote en Grèce, en Roumanie, en Russie et en Turquie (S. C. Vlastos, Athènes, 1892, p. 59-60).
