    • He says he was captured by the Turks in Mesta, Chios, on 18 Apr 1822, his release bought by a Stephen Vernatsa in Smyrna for 90 machmoutiedes. He left for Trieste and Livorno. On 24 Apr 1824, he sailed for Constantinople, arriving 28 Sep 1924.
    • Appears to have been known as 'Stephanovich-Schilizzi'. Presumably the Zannis Stephanos Schilizzi who is recorded as being a Constantinople magnate who had three sons: Dimitrios, Ioannis and Pavlos who all came to London.
    • Bishop Timothy says he became a Russian subject at a town in the Sea of Asov so that he could trade safely in Constantinople. He adapted his name accordingly. Most Greek men in his position adopted Western Power nationalities that secured their positions.
    • He created the St Stephen's Chapel at the Greek Cemetery in Constantinople (Sisli Rum Mezerlik). Grand Officer of the Order of The Saviour.
    • Zanni Stef. Schilizzi is listed in the partnership businesses in 1860 that also involved John Stephen Schilizzi [probably John S. (Zannis) Schilizzi Stephanovich], James Constantine Negroponte, [perhaps Jean (Constantine) Negroponte], Emmanuel Halduvacchi, Leonidas Vernudacchi, John Vaffiadacclii, Michael Pantaleone Mavrogordato, Ambrosia Michele Cappati, Ipatias Vernudacchi & M. F. Paspatti. The firms involved included Schilizzi & Co., at London, Manchester and Calcutta; Schilizzi & Vaffiadacchi, Leghorn, Z. Stefanovich & Co., Constantinople; A.M. Cappari, Taganrog; and Ypatio Vernudacchi, Rostoff (London Gazette 7 Jun 1861; The Manchester Guardian 10 Jun 1861, p 4).

Schilizzi was in partnership with James Constantine Negreponte [possibly Jacob (Constantine) Negroponte], John James Negreponte [possibly Jacques (Jacob) Negroponte] and Leonidas Vernudacchi (the three retired on 31 Mar 1861), John Sten. Schilizzi, Emmanuel Halduvacchi, John Stefanovich Schilizzi, Paul Stefanovich Schilizzi, Paul John Schilizzi, Michele/Michael Pantaleone Mavrogordato, Giovanni/John Vafiadacchi, Demetrius J. Paspali, Ambosio Michele Cappari, Jean F. Paspatti, A. Z. Caridia, M. F. Paspatti, D. Stef. Schilizzi, Ipatias/Ypatio Vernudacchi (until 31 March 1860)and N. P. Caridia. The firms operated as mer chants, at London, Manchester, and Calcutta, under the firm of Schilizzi and Co.; at Leghorn, under the firm of Schilizzi and Vafiadacchi; at Constantinople, under the firm of Z. Stefanovich and Co.; at Taganrog, under the firm of A. M. Cappari; and at Rostoff, under the firm of John F. Paspatti (London Gazette 7 June 1861, 27 Dec 1861).
    • Zanni Stefanovich Schilizzi was among the partners in business as Merchants, at London, Manchester, and Calcutta, under the firm of Schilizzi and Co., at Leghorn under the firm of Schilizzi and Vafiadacchi, at Castellamare under the firm of Paul Stefanovich Schilizzi, at Constantinople under the firm of Z. Stefanovich and Co., and at Taganrog and Rostoff-on-the-Don under the firm of John F. Paspatti, until dissolved 31 March 1866.     • Zannis St. Schilizzi, 33, b. Chios, unmarried, coffee merchant, swore allegiance to the Greek state on 25 May 1838 at the town hall, Ermoupolis. [5]
    • Z. Stephanovik-Skylitsis is listed among the 11 Greeks who were bankers in Constantinople from the 1840s. [6]
    • He donated funds for the construction of the Greek church, 5-7 rue Bizet, Paris, but died before the project was finished. His son, Paul presided over the work's completion. (Revue des études grecques (Paris), 1888.)
    • Z. Stefanovich is among the 15 bankers who signed an agreement with the Ottoman government in Nov 1879 to ensure sufficient capital, A. Du Velay, Essai sur l'histoire financičre de la Turquie : depuis le rčgne du sultan Mahmoud II jusqu'ŕ nos jours, Paris, 1903, p. 400.
