  1. 1.  Nicolas Frangopulo was born about 1780 in Chios, Greece; died on 24 May 1850 in Lancashire, England UK; was buried in Ardwick Cemetery of the Orthodox Greeks, Manchester, England UK.

    Notes:

    A Nicolas Frangopoulos, married to an Angeliki, is recorded on a monument at the Petrocochino church Aghios GIoannis in the Kampos, Chios, and is said to have been a 'magistrate' or judge in England. (Christopher Long)

    A Nicolas Frangopoulos (no proof that this is he) was appointed as a member of the Chios 'ephory' during the Samian invasion and occupation of the island by Logothetis during the Massacres of Chios. (Christopher Long)

    His daughter's marriage record shows him as 'of Syros'. (Christopher Long)


    Nicholas Frangopoulos, 63, b. Chios, married, having arrived Syros 1828, merchant, swore allegiance to the Greek state on 20 Aug 1843 at the town hall, Ermoupolis, Syros.

    He was likely naturalized British. His grandson Nicholas Frangopulo, in his own application for British naturalization, said his grandfather was a British subject.
