Notes |
- Alexander Matthew Ziffo, merchant, 1 Great Winchester St. Buildings, E.C. London, was a partner in the Commercial Bank of Alexandria Ltd (The London Gazette, 28 Feb 1877).
- Mrs A. Ziffo, 33 Sussex Lodge Sussex Pl W.2, Paddington, London (1939 phone listing).
- His brother John wrote: "He lived in London for many years and was in the firm of Paspati & Co. When Mr Paspati died he returned to Trieste and put his savings (about £3,000) in the Scarabelli business and it was lost or rather recklessly spent by sister Julia and himself, Scarabelli being too weak to stop it. This combined, with a great shock (an English girl he was in love with in London gave him up and married another Greek young man) affected his brain and we had to put him in a private sanatorium in Monza near Milan. After 4 years he was well enough to come home and gradually he was completely cured."
