Sunday, 20 September to Saturday, 26 September 2009 [begins/ends in Athens]
1st day:
we meet in the afternoon at the Athens airport and fly together to Chios, most
probably with Aegean Airlines at 4 pm. Accommodation in Campos (mid-price),
partly in a restored old mansion.
2nd day: walking tour
in Campos, visit of the old Agelasto (also Mavrogordato, Rodocanachi, Ralli,
Petrocochino, Schilizzi, Negroponte et al.) properties. In the afternoon:
visit of the Argenti Mansion.
3rd day: trip to the
medieval mastic villages Mesta, Olympi, Pyrgi. After that (optional) a visit to
the Mavra Volia (black pebbles) Beach for a swim and/or coffee.
4th day: trip to Chios
Town, Korais Library (Argenti Archives), Old Castle, Agelasto Street, etc
5th day: trip to
Anavatos (“the dead city”) and Nea Moni (the oldest monastery and most
important byzantine building of Chios). In the evening: vespers at St Tryphon
Chapel.
6th day: trip to
Daskalopetra (Homer´s rock), Kardamyla and Moundon Monastery. In the evening: farewell dinner.
7th day: departure in
the morning, flight back to Athens.
Estimated cost is about 550 Euros
per person, including:

Flight Athens – Chios – Athens

Accommodation in double rooms incl.
breakfast (for single rooms there will be a surcharge, for 3-bed rooms a price
reduction).

Transportation on the island (depending on
the number of participants, we will need either a tourist bus or 2-3 minibuses
of 7-9 seats each).
· 6x dinner with several courses of Greek food at various restaurants (excl. drinks).
