    Philanthropy: Despina A. Agelasto donated £10 to the Chios Hospital in 1872 according to unpublished research by Demetrios Melachrinoudis. According to Reports on Hygiene Institutions of Chios by the same author, she contributed in various years from 1879-1882.

    Her will (dated March 6, 1885), with a codicil (dated January 26, 1889) was proved 6 Aug 1889 by Alexander Anthony Vlasto and Stephen Augustus Ralli, the executors, the value of the personal estate amounting to upwards of £78,000 (Belfast News-Letter 17 Aug 1889; Birmingham Daily Post 16 Aug 1889).
