A Constantine Negroponte was godfather on 25 Aug 1863 at the Greek Church of St Nicholas, Liverpool, England, to Constantine Constantinidi, b. Otkinson Street, Liverpool, son of Michael, merchant of Greece and his wife Anna.

Michael Alexander Sevastopulo retired on 18 April 1865 from his partnership with Georges Demetrius Zizinia, Constantine Paul Negroponte and Thomas Zizinia; the latter three remained in business as merchants, London and Liverpool (London Gazette 19 May 1865).

According to the 1901 British census Constantine, 73, retired cotton merchant, native Greek; his wife Angelique, 63, a French subject; and their daughters Angelique, 37; Hypatia, 35; and Polymnia, all born in Liverpool and music teachers, lived at 26 Hawarden Avenue, Toxteth Park, Liverpool, with a nurse and a domestic servant.

On the day of the 1861 British census, there were two unmarried men named Constantine Negroponte in Liverpool: (1) aged 27, cotton merchant, born in Syros, Greece, lived at 150 Crown Street with Mary Anne Smith, a visitor, and a servant. (2) aged 32, merchant, lodged at 163 Upper Parliament Street [digital record difficult to decipher; scanner says middle initial 'P' and born USA]. Most probably, this man is the latter.

Negroponte and others served in a deputation of Greek residents of Liverpool who met with Sir Charles Dilke to discuss British-Greek foreign affairs at the Reform Club June 1879 (Liverpool Mercury 6 Jun 1879.

Constant P. Negroponte, Greek merchant, residing at Beech House, Fairfield [West Derby] was involved in a paternity suit with Sarah Parry, a waitress, 31 Montague Street concerning her child, born 27 Jan 1862.

The partnership of C. and N. Negroponte, Liverpool, merchants, was dissolved in 1865 (Liverpool Mercury 30 Nov 1865). Argenti records no such 'N' Negroponte.

The 1894 Liverpool directory lists C.P. Negroponte, cotton merchant, at 43 Exchange Chambers, Bixteth St.

Constantine P Negroponte, 40, merchant, was on the voter list for Syros, 1869.

21 Dec 1849: Constantine P. Negroponte, 21, unmarried, born Chios, arrived Syros 1828, merchant, swore allegiance to the Greek government at the town hall, Ermoupolis.

Mrs. Negroponte and family, Beechwood House, Fairfield, Liverpool, lodged one summer with Mrs. Pierce at 6 Neville Crescent [Bangor, Wales] (North Wales Chronicle, 8 Jul 1865) and another with Mrs. Brookes and Miss Wynne at Number 3 on the same street (North Wales Chronicle, 23 Jul 1864).

She converted to Protestantism, according to the entries in the baptism register for her daughters Angeliki and Hypatia.
