16 May 1858: Emmanuel Agelasto, 46, married, born Chios, arrived Syros 1831, commercial agent, swore allegiance to the Greek government at the town hall, Ermoupolis.

Emmanuel John Agelasto sold a dwelling in Chios to Ali Kavasis Hakim (presumably a Turk) 1 Sep 1834, according to Doc #840 held at the Korai Library, Chios.

Died:
He was dead when his daughter Victoria died in Marseille, Dec 1874.

Emmanuel married Alexandra Gara. Alexandra was born about 1836; died after 1876. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Residence: 1874-76, Marseille, France. According to the 1876 Marseille census, she was a widow and living with her son, surviving daughter Marie and a domestic servant at rue Thomas 20. The census gives her name as "Alexandrie Dara Angelhasto." She is listed as Alexandre Agelasto in the 1874 Marseille directory without the 'Vve' that indicates widow status. On her daughter Victoria's death certificate, she is Alexandra Gara, widow.

This family is not included in Argenti's Agelasto tree; rather John Emmanuel is on Argenti's Petrocochino tree as a spouse (and thus on our Negroponte-Agelasto tree).

Presumably he was born on and resided until 1822 at the St. Tryphon property, Kampos, Chios.

Birth:
Argenti places him first in birth order, which is incorrect. He was second son.

Estimated birth year based on fact it should be after Tryphon and before any others that are known (ie, Stephanos in 1779).
