In discussing an exhibition in Antwerp, a commentator noted "Fastidious smokers will find a large assortment of the best brands of Turkish and Russian cigarettes and tobacco at the stand of Agelasto Brothers, of Antwerp" (Liverpool Mercury 15 May 1886).

    Argenti says Jean.

    G. Washburn in his book on Robert College, Constantinople, mentions a "Yanko Agelasto" as a witness to the signing of a school document in 1868. Yanko, a familiar form of John, could have been John Stamati Agelasto, 9 years old at the time.

    J. Agelasto, domiciled at R. Van Immerzeel, 12, Anvers/Antwerpen, was marketing tobacco products at a trade show Oct 1885.

    The marriage of John Agelasto and Victoria Verbracken was registered Jan-Feb-Mar 1887, v. 1b, Islington, Middlesex, England. Argenti has the date: 20 Jun 1884; Constantine Couclelis agrees: "Most probably not married in 1887, ie after the birth of her daughter Jeanne!" It is possible there was a religous ceremony in Belgium, followed several years later by marriage registration in the UK.
